How to Begin
1
After
transferring pattern
to fabric, stretch design over inner hoop. Make sure
fabric is kept
tight like a drum. |
Needle and Hoop
2
Hold needle with index, middle
fingers
and thumb. |
3
Rest wrist on top
of hoop
and hold hoop with other hand, making sure thumb is on
top. |
Positioning Needle
4
Face the front of
the needle
in intended direction and keep in a vertical position. |
5
Punch needle all
the way
in so the handle of the needle touches the fabric. The
needle must
be pushed all the way in on each stitch to make an even
pile. |
6
Lift needle out
of fabric,
just enough to move to next stitch. You must keep the
needle as
close to the material as possible. Lifting the needle too
high shortens
the loops on the front of the design and creates unwanted
loops
on the back. |
Stitches
7
Keep stitches close together
and work
in rows. |
8
Make sure the thread running
through
the needle is kept loose. |
9
The stitches must
be close
enough together for the loops to cover the material on the
display
side. |
End Stitching
10
To end stitching, hold last
stitch with
finger. |
11
Gently lift
needle out
of fabric and cut thread close
to the material. |
12
Trim uneven loops
and loose
ends on the front of the design so they are level with the
rest
of the pile. |
